Ely test

The Ely test is positive, John is extremely sore in both his lower back AND his quadriceps of both legs!

The Ely's test is not really helpful in examining lower backpain. This test is mostly used to assess the rectus femoris muscle. A positive test indicates a tight rectus femoris.
