NSAIDSRx/ Ibuprofen 800 mg Sx/ Take 1 tablet TID You advise John that he can alternate the Ibuprofen with extrastrength acetaminophen. You print out a handout from the EMR with the doses of both the NSAID and acetaminophen, so John will not forget. You see in the EMR that he has Peptic Ulcer Disease and is not on any medication. You prescribe him a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) for a month to protect his stomach while he is taking NSAIDs.
You also counsel John on the natural history of mechanical backpain, you explain Red Flag Symptoms and tell him that if he has any Red Flag symptoms he should return immediatley.
