Acetaminophen

Rx/ Acetaminophen 1000mg

Sx/ Take 1 tablet QID

John doesn't need a prescription for this, but you print out a handout from your EMR, with the exact dose and frequency in case he forgets. You also advise him that he can alternate the Tylenol with an over the counter NSAID.

You notice in the EMR that he has Peptic Ulcer Disease and is not on any medication for this. You prescribe him a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) for a month to protect his stomach while he is taking NSAIDs.

You also counsel John on the natural history of mechanical backpain, you explain Red Flag Symptoms and tell him that if he has any Red Flag symptoms he should return immediatley.
